Classes

Class Expectations

Students are placed into ballet and modern classes based on skill level, and into jazz by age.

Students must audition to be accepted into the half day program, En Avant pre-professional program and the Higher Grades Program

Families registered for RAD ballet and ISTD Modern need to be prepared to participate in and pay for an exam (RAD,ISTD or school) during the dance season

Faculty will decide who is ready for which kind of exam each season

Students wishing to take only one ballet class per week are asked to attend Ballet 1 or 2

The fee structure is posted on the registration page and all fees are due in at the beginning or the season along with costume and registration fees

Dancers ages 6 and under are welcome to withdraw at any time with one months notice, dancers aged 7+ are expected to finish the dance season after October 1

WAPA does have a great fundraising structure and any fundraising money earned will be held in credit towards any dance fees you choose

Please notify Ms Dana of any schedule conflicts, illnesses/injuries, issues or concerns immediately at info@wapa.dance

Dancers are expected to wear their proper uniform to every class (hair included)

Shows: dancers need to participate in the spacing rehearsal before each performance to perform in the performance.

Photo day offers families to opportunity to get class and solo photos of dancers and videos of the performances are available to purchase before the show date.

Festival/Competition Expectations

Festival Participation: dancers in the En Avant and Higher Grades programs are expected to participate in festival. Other dancers can register for festival with the Festival Application that comes out in September.

Dancers are expected to make their festival commitment a priority over other activities

Missing more then 2 rehearsals may result in being taken out of sections of the dance or the entire piece

Solos are chosen by the choreographer and given to students we feel are ready for the challenge. You must participate in a group in order to be chosen for a solo

Fees: Rehearsals/Choreography - $280 per group, $300 per solo; Entry fees are calculated after festival/competition registration has been solidified; Costume fees are given out one month before the first performance and usually range from $90-$120 per costume.

All festival participants must have a WAPA jacket and wear the jacket to performances
